Donald "Pee Wee" Gaskins, the "Meanest Man in America," is buried in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. It's ironic that such a hateful little man ended up in a church graveyard. Maybe they thought the holy ground would keep him down.

Why This Listing Exists
Donald Henry Gaskins, known as "Pee Wee" due to his small stature, was an American serial killer from South Carolina. He claimed to have killed over 100 people, though he was convicted of nine murders.
Gaskins was a drifter and thief who escalated to rape, torture, and murder. He was particularly brutal, often torturing his victims for days. He was also the first white man to be executed in South Carolina for killing a black man since 1944 (he killed a fellow inmate on death row).
He was executed by electric chair on September 6, 1991. He is buried in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Sumter, South Carolina.
